How to enable USB Debugging on Samsung Galaxy Tab?

Problem

The problem I stumped upon the other day was how to enable USB debugging on Samsung Galaxy Tab in order to test one of my Android applications.

On my HTC desire, I was able to check the "USB debugging" checkbox, but on GalaxyTab, this options seems disabled/pre-checked already (Settings -> Applications -> Development):

Samsung Galaxy Tab USB Debugging

Solution

Solution is actually quite simple - all we have to do is to update the driver with one downloaded from Samsung website as the standard USB driver from Google is not sufficient.

  1. Go to: http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/
  2. Type GalaxyTab in the searchbox
  3. Click on 'Software' link
  4. Download and install SAMSUNG Kies PC Sync.

Now, when you reconnect your GalaxyTab you should be able to see it on the list of available devices.
